Legendary German footballer Lothar Matthäus has stated that Bayer Leverkusen is currently the best team in the world, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

According to him, the elements of football, speed, and composure with the ball are what make Bayer Leverkusen fascinating to watch. Matthäus could talk about this for a long time and it reminds him of Barcelona with Xavi, Iniesta, and Messi.

"For me, they are currently the strongest football team in the world. I don't want to compare them to Liverpool and Manchester City, but Bayer plays football of the highest quality that I have seen this season," stated Matthäus.

Furthermore, Bayer Leverkusen's managing director, Fernando Carro, has commented on the future of the team's head coach, Xabi Alonso. According to the top executive of the club, there are currently no reasons to believe that the Spaniard will leave Leverkusen in the summer.
