The epidemic of injuries persists. Real Madrid has suffered the loss of another defender
The injury epidemic at Real Madrid persists. Following the loss of their key defender David Alaba, left-back Ferland Mendy has found himself in the infirmary as well.
The Frenchman felt discomfort during the recent La Liga match against Villarreal (4:1) and requested a substitution during halftime.
Nevertheless, it's expected that Mendy's injury isn't severe. He's scheduled for a medical assessment soon. Initially, he is set to miss approximately 10 days before returning to action.
Previously, Real Madrid suffered long-term absences of Alaba and Eder Militao. In the upcoming La Liga match against Alaves on December 21, Carlo Ancelotti won't be able to count on eight first-team players. Apart from Mendy, Alaba, and Militao, Thibaut Courtois, Dani Carvajal, Eduardo Camavinga, Arda Gulur, and Vinicius Junior will also be unavailable.
Ancelotti's team, with 42 points, holds the second position in the La Liga table, trailing Girona by just two points. Los Blancos remain unbeaten in 16 consecutive matches across all competitions.
