English defender Luke Shaw is on the verge of parting ways with Manchester United after more than a decade at the club.

Details: Manchester United’s 31-year-old left-back Luke Shaw is highly likely to leave the team next summer. According to respected Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler, the club’s hierarchy is currently holding no talks with the experienced footballer over an extension to his contract.

The defender’s current deal with the Red Devils is nearing its end, but the club’s chiefs are in no rush to offer the Englishman fresh terms. United are weighing up whether continuing the partnership makes sense amid the player’s recurring injury problems, while also seeking to follow a broader strategy of rejuvenating the defensive line and optimising the wage bill.

Luke Shaw joined Manchester United in the summer of 2014 after moving from Southampton for a record fee for a teenager. During his twelve years at Old Trafford, the defender has made around 300 appearances in all competitions, winning the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup with the club. The 31-year-old also has 34 caps and 3 goals for the England national team.
