It is reported that the Italian tactician is in no rush to resume his career and is waiting for an offer from a truly ambitious, high-profile sporting project capable of competing for the biggest trophies. Conte views the opportunity to take charge of the Red Devils as the ideal scenario for a return to the top level of football.

Nevertheless, the Ineos leadership, headed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, continues to offer Michael Carrick its full backing. For now, the Manchester club’s chiefs are not planning to take drastic measures and are counting on the current coaching staff to stabilise the team’s performances and results in the coming matches.

Michael Carrick, it should be recalled, came under heavy criticism after an underwhelming start to the Premier League campaign, with Manchester United managing just one win in their opening four fixtures.
