Headline: Blockbuster transfer at Old Trafford! Manchester United return for rivals’ defensive leader
Manchester United are preparing another major attempt to strengthen the heart of their defense and have already taken the first concrete steps.
Details: Manchester United have once again made Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite one of their priority transfer targets. According to the respected British outlet Daily Mail, representatives of the Manchester giants have already contacted the 24-year-old’s camp to discuss the possibility of a potential move.
The Red Devils are reportedly considering two possible scenarios: completing the signing during the winter transfer window or returning to the deal next summer. To reduce the financial burden and make their offer more attractive to the Merseyside club, the Manchester outfit are prepared to include one of their current players in the deal.
However, reaching an agreement midway through the season will be extremely difficult for United. Everton are adamant that they will not part with their key centre-back before the end of the current campaign and will do everything possible to keep the Englishman at least until the summer.
It is worth remembering that Manchester United made an aggressive push to sign Branthwaite as early as the summer of 2024, but Everton’s chiefs rejected several offers in succession, valuing their academy product at no less than £70 million. The 24-year-old England international remains a cornerstone of the Toffees’ starting XI, while his current contract with the Liverpool club runs until the summer of 2027.
