The Dutch swimmer wins a medal at her third consecutive Olympic Marathon Swimming event

On the 13th competitive day of the 2024 Olympics, the first final was the 10-kilometer marathon swimming event.

Dutch swimmer Sharon van Rouwendaal claimed victory, completing the distance in 2:03:34.2 hours. She finished ahead of Australian Moesha Johnson, who completed the race in 2:03:39.7 hours. In third place was Genevra Tadeucci from Italy.

For van Rouwendaal, this marks her third consecutive Olympic medal in marathon swimming. She is the reigning Olympic champion from Rio 2016 and won silver at the Tokyo 2020 Games. Additionally, she is a three-time world champion and a seven-time European champion.

Meanwhile, the triathlon events at the 2024 Olympics have concluded. They were held in the Seine River, although they were rescheduled several times due to water pollution issues. The Mayor of Paris has addressed whether any triathletes fell ill from swimming in the Seine.
