The players and coaching staff of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s national team were honoured on Tuesday 22 September in Kinshasa.
This honour follows their performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In total, 31 players and 8 members of the coaching staff, including the Minister for Sport, were awarded the rank of Knight in the National Order of the Leopard.
This recognition rewards the Leopards’ performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted this summer by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The DR Congo had returned to the world’s premier competition after a 52-year absence.
On its return to the world stage, the Congolese team made a lasting impression by reaching the knockout stages of the competition.
