The return date of the Portuguese defender to Barcelona has been revealed.
Details: According to Sport, Portuguese full-back João Cancelo will arrive in the Catalan capital tomorrow, with his medical scheduled for Monday—right after the conclusion of the Spanish Super Cup.
The official transfer announcement will be made regardless of the Super Cup final result, but only after the match has ended. The club doesn't want the news of Cancelo's signing to distract from the high-stakes showdown, so the player's presentation will take place after the team returns to Barcelona.
Reports indicate that the delay in the announcement is not related to any issues with the deal. The agreement between Barcelona and Al Hilal is fully finalized: Cancelo joins the Catalan club on loan until the end of the season. All terms have been agreed, and the pause is purely due to logistical reasons.
At the moment, the Portuguese defender is in Porto, training individually and awaiting the completion of formalities. For this reason, he will not join the squad in Saudi Arabia, but will begin working with his new teammates on Tuesday, following his medical examination.
It's worth noting that Cancelo has played just six matches for Al Hilal this season, scoring once and providing two assists. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is estimated at €10 million.
