One of the world's wealthiest men, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, is joining an investment group that is finalizing a deal to acquire a major stake in an English football club.

Details: According to the reputable outlet Sky News, an investor consortium led by Amit Bhatia (former co-owner of Queens Park Rangers and son-in-law of billionaire Lakshmi Mittal), which also includes Jeff Bezos and Meta co-founder Eduardo Saverin, is close to purchasing around 30% of the Merseyside club’s shares. The deal is valued at $2 billion, placing Liverpool’s total valuation under this agreement at an eye-watering $6 billion. An official announcement could come as early as this week.

The club’s current owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) led by John Henry, bought Liverpool back in 2010 for just £300 million. Under their stewardship, the Reds have claimed every major trophy, including the Premier League and Champions League. Bringing in fresh investors will allow FSG to bolster the club’s financial muscle and continue to develop infrastructure, all while retaining a controlling stake.
