Mason Greenwood has recently gained attention due to the scandal at Manchester United. Last summer, the club offloaded the forward on loan to Spanish side Getafe, and this summer, he signed a permanent contract with French club Marseille. Manchester United received €26 million for the sale.

In France, Greenwood has been delivering impressive performances. He has scored five goals in the first three matches, prompting Daniel Riolo of RMC Sport to name him the best player in Ligue 1.

These performances have raised questions about his potential call-up to the England national team. Ahead of the match against Ireland, England's interim coach Lee Carsley addressed the matter in a press conference. He stated that Greenwood’s candidacy had not been considered, but did not rule it out for the future:

"We have not considered his candidacy. I am aware of how he is performing, but we have not considered him," Goal reports him saying.

A reminder that England begins their UEFA Nations League campaign today with a match against Ireland, kicking off at 18:00 Central European Time.
