In the third-round match of the group stage of the 2024 European Championship, Hungarian national team player Barnabás Varga collided with the Scottish goalkeeper and was unable to continue the match due to a head injury.

Hungary's head coach, Marco Rossi, stated that the player's life is not currently in danger. He will undergo surgery following a facial fracture. Varga will no longer be able to participate in the remainder of Euro 2024.

It is worth noting that the player lay on the pitch for several minutes, receiving medical attention. He was then covered with a blanket and carried off the field on a stretcher. Varga is currently in a Stuttgart clinic. According to Hungarian media outlet M4 Sport, Varga even communicated with medical staff during the trip to the hospital.

The Scotland vs. Hungary match ended with a score of 0-1. Scotland has concluded their participation in Euro 2024, while Hungary still has theoretical chances to play in the tournament's playoffs.
