The Chelsea legend said the club were very close to signing Osimhen in the transfer window
Former Chelsea and Nigeria midfielder John Obi Mikel revealed that the London club came very close to sealing a deal for Victor Osimhen, but it fell through at the last moment.
Details: Obi Mikel, who is well-acquainted with Osimhen, acted as an intermediary during negotiations, but even his involvement couldn't secure the transfer.
“We were very, very close to completing the deal. There were just minor issues, small details that stopped us from finalizing it. I know what the club was offering Osimhen, but in the end, we needed to find a compromise.
Both sides needed to make concessions. A few disagreements here and there—documents, medicals, all these things couldn't be ironed out before the deadline”.
Reminder: Despite the closure of the transfer window in top leagues, Osimhen didn’t leave Napoli. He also declined a move to Saudi Arabia. Ultimately, to avoid spending six months on Napoli's bench, the Nigerian goal machine joined Galatasaray on loan with no option to buy.
