Atlético Madrid's central defender Stefan Savić has confirmed the extension of his contract with the club, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

The initial agreement with the Rojiblancos was set to expire at the end of the current season, but there was a clause for extending the contract for an additional year. Both parties have agreed to this condition, thus Savić will spend another season at Atlético Madrid. The player himself has reportedly confirmed this information.

Recall that on July 6, 2011, it was announced that Manchester City officially acquired Stefan Savić, with this transfer reportedly valued at around ten million pounds. A year later, Savić left the club as part of an agreement for the transfer of Fiorentina defender Matija Nastasić to Manchester.

Then, on July 20, 2015, he moved to Atlético Madrid for ten million euros, signing a five-year contract. Alongside the Rojiblancos, he became a winner of La Liga, the UEFA Europa League, and the UEFA Super Cup. Savić became a key defender for the Madrid team and a leader of the squad.

Furthermore, another prominent Atlético Madrid player, Antoine Griezmann, has fully recovered from his ankle injury. He has returned to training with the team without any limitations. It is expected that Griezmann will be fully ready to play in the La Liga match against Villarreal, scheduled for April 1st.
