The Belgian Olympic Interfederal Committee announced that the Belgian team will not participate in the mixed triathlon relay at the 2024 Olympics due to Claire Michel's illness. The decision was made after consultations with the athletes and their entourage.
The 35-year-old triathlete, who was supposed to represent the Belgian team, fell ill and had to withdraw from the competition.
According to the Belgian publication RTBF, Michel is in the Olympic Village hospital, suffering from stomach pain and cramps for the past four days.
It is also worth noting that the men's individual competitions were postponed, and the triathletes' training sessions in the Seine were canceled due to high levels of water pollution.
