The Football Association of England might attempt to bring Jarell Quansah back into the squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup quarter-final clash with Norway.
Details: According to the BBC, the FA is considering appealing the suspension of the defender, who received a straight red card in the round of 16 match against Mexico.
Quansah was sent off in the match against Mexico, which England won 3-2. Referee Alireza Faghani reviewed the incident using VAR and showed the defender a straight red card.
The sending-off came after a slide tackle on Jesus Gallardo: Quansah caught his opponent on the leg, prompting the referee to overturn his initial decision and leave England with ten men.
Now, England are preparing for their quarter-final encounter against Norway, and losing the defender could prove a major headache for the team. That’s why the FA is actively considering an appeal.
Reminder: The situation is even more intriguing in the wake of the Folarin Balogun case. Previously, FIFA suspended a one-match ban for the USA striker after a red card, and now other federations may seek to challenge suspensions as well.
