That's it! Real Madrid defender is leaving the club

Real Madrid appear ready to make another major change in defence next summer.

Details: According to Fichajes, citing MadridistaHoy, Real Madrid are not planning to offer Antonio Rüdiger another contract once his current deal expires on June 30, 2027. The German centre-back only extended his stay in June 2026 for one additional season, but the latest report claims the club are already preparing for life without him. There has been no official confirmation from Real Madrid regarding a final decision on Rüdiger's future.

The leading candidate to take Rüdiger's place is Jacobo Ramón. The 21-year-old centre-back came through Real Madrid's academy after joining the club at the age of eight and made his first-team debut in 2025 before completing a permanent move to Como in July of that year.

Fichajes reports that Madrid retained 50% of the player's rights as well as a buy-back option, which could make a return to the Santiago Bernabéu considerably easier in the summer of 2027. Ramón is therefore viewed as the main option if the club ultimately decides not to extend Rüdiger's agreement again.

It is worth noting that Ramón has started all five of Como's opening league matches this season, playing 450 minutes and scoring one goal. Rüdiger, meanwhile, has made three appearances for Real Madrid in the 2026/27 campaign and has also found the net once.
