Thapelo Xoki on Orlando Pirates' PSL title charge: Winning the Betway Premiership has always been part of our goal and we remain focused on it
The Orlando Pirates Betway Premiership title charge is not a surprise.
This is something the Sea Robbers have been building on from previous seasons which is likely to culminate in victory in this campaign.
Defender Thapelo Xoki said they are now in a far better position to win the PSL title than they have been in the past.
And this is largely because they have been working on this from previous seasons.
Pirates are atop of the PSL standings with 51 points, one more than second placed and defending champions in Mamelodi Sundowns.
Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men also played a game more than Sundowns.
“It’s always been a goal [to win the league], everyone who comes to the club, knows the club plays to win every tournament that we participate in, but the league is a marathon and we’ve gained experience in terms of understanding the dynamics of how to get over the line,” Xoki said this week.
“It’s been a build-up over the years, and we are in a good position now, having learnt in the past seasons where we fell short and hopefully, we finish strong and get the one we always wanted. It’s the only trophy eluding us so far as a group so it’s the one we’re going for.”
