The NBA, along with its Texas-based franchises, has joined forces to support those affected by the recent natural disaster in the region, TMZ reports.

Local teams—the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks—together with the NBA, will contribute over $2 million to relief efforts.

"The NBA family is heartbroken by the loss of life and the devastation caused by the flooding across the Texas Hill Country. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy, and we extend our deepest gratitude to the heroic first responders and volunteers. Amid so much sorrow, we are inspired by the strength of the Texas community as it comes together during this incredibly difficult time," the NBA said in an official statement.

It is worth recalling that on July 4, the region was struck by sudden flooding triggered by the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry. The Guadalupe River rose nearly 8 meters in just 45 minutes.

As of Monday, at least 95 people have been confirmed dead and 41 remain missing.
