This winter, Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen moved to Girona on a loan deal, but unfortunately picked up an injury and could have returned to his parent club. However, that now appears unlikely.

Details: According to Fernando Polo, the German goalkeeper will not be returning to Barcelona and will remain at Girona, where his contract runs until June 2026. The loan spell will continue through the summer.

We previously reported that ter Stegen is still undergoing medical examinations, and there is no final verdict from the medical staff yet. However, if surgery is required, it would bring an end to his stint at Girona.

Ter Stegen joined Girona on a six-month loan from Barcelona in January. He managed to play just two matches for the red-and-whites before being sidelined with injury.

Reminder: Last year, ter Stegen missed a lengthy period due to a back injury, and as we can see, injuries continue to plague the goalkeeper.
