WBO champion in the first welterweight division Teofimo Lopez has challenged the WBO, WBA, and WBC titleholder in the welterweight division, Terence Crawford, proposing a match.

“I did call out Crawford. At 147lbs. I'm not here to play games, I wanna fight the best. The fighters Crawford fought were handicapped. Spence just announced about his eye, Jose Benavidez had a shot leg, Kell Brook was injured too with his eye. Every fighter Crawford has faced at 147lbs has been injured. I'm healthy. Fight the best fighter at a healthier weight, let's do it.” Lopez said for Boxing Social.

Lopez is set to defend his WBO title in the welterweight division against Jemaine Ortiz on February 8th.

Teofimo secured a convincing victory over former undisputed champion Josh Taylor in June 2023, winning by unanimous decision. After that, he initially mentioned his intention to retire from professional boxing, but later changed his decision.

Crawford, in July, secured a victory over Errol Spence via a technical knockout in the ninth round.
