OFFICIALLY. Teofimo Lopez will defend his title in February

Top Rank has officially confirmed the bout between Teofimo Lopez (19–1, 13 KO) and Jamaine Ortiz (17–1–1, 8 KO).

The fight is set to be the main event on February 8th in Las Vegas, showcasing the WBO belt in the first junior welterweight division, currently held by Lopez.

Tickets for the event will go on sale on Friday, January 5th.

In June, Lopez secured a convincing victory against former undisputed champion in the first junior welterweight division, Josh Taylor, by unanimous decision. Following this, Teofimo expressed his intention to retire from professional boxing, but later altered his decision.

Ortiz won by unanimous decision against Antonio Moran in September. The fight had to take place in a higher weight class (up to 63.5 kg) as the American didn't meet the required weight.
