The decision to keep Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on the bench for the 31st round of the Premier League against Chelsea was explained by the Red Devils' head coach, Erik ten Hag.

He clarified that he opted for squad rotation to keep Rashford and the team fresh during a busy period leading up to another crucial match on Sunday.

“I decided for Marcus Rashford on the bench for rotation to keep him and the team fresh through a busy period with another big game on Sunday”. stated ten Hag, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Throughout the current season, Rashford, 26, has contributed 8 goals and 6 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions. Earlier reports suggested that the forward might not make it into the England squad for Euro 2024.

Manchester United, currently sixth in the Premier League table, is gearing up for a classic showdown against Chelsea, who sit twelfth in the standings prior to the match.
