Tanzania fought back to hold Tunisia to a 1-1 draw in Group C of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, a result that sent both teams into the last 16. Tunisia needed a point to finish second behind Nigeria, while Tanzania progressed as one of the four best third-placed teams, edging out Angola on goals scored.
Ismael Gharbi put Tunisia ahead from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute after a VAR review ruled Ibrahim Hamad had impeded Hazem Mastouri. Tanzania responded early in the second half when Feisal Salum fired in from outside the box. Clear chances were limited, with Simon Msuva heading narrowly wide.
Tanzania make history with two points to reach knockout stage for first time ever.
