The Tanzania national team has etched its name into Africa Cup of Nations history. In the third round of the group stage, the Tanzanians drew 1-1 with Tunisia, earning their second point and, for the first time ever, advancing to the tournament's knockout rounds.
Details: According to Opta, this achievement is unique: since the introduction of the format in 2019 that allows the best third-placed teams to progress from the group stage, Tanzania are the first side to qualify for the next round with only two points.

Despite having the bare minimum in points, the team has achieved a historic breakthrough and, for the first time ever, will continue their continental campaign in the knockout stage.
In the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16, Tanzania will face Morocco. The match is scheduled for Sunday, January 4.
Reminder: For the first time since 2017, Tunisia conceded goals in every group stage match at the Africa Cup of Nations.
