Take inspiration from Themba Zwane when it comes to Bafana Bafana! Rulani Mokwena tells Thembinkosi Lorch

Rulani Mokwena suggests his protégé, Thembinkosi Lorch, should take leaf out of Themba Zwane’s book when it comes to Bafana Bafana.

Hugo Broos has been vocal about how Lorch’s age, 32, is his gripe for not calling up the Wydad Casablanca midfielder to the national side, despite his good form.

Broos, when he took over as the Bafana Bafana coach, was against calling Themza Zwane to the national side citing Zwane’s age as an excuse.

But not long after seeing Zwane on the field, the Belgian changed his mind and Zwane has since became a regular for Bafana unless he is injured.

“For Lorch, he just needs to look at Themba Zwane as a source of inspiration. Themba Zwane was in the same position,” Mokwena, who is in charge at Algeria's MC Alger, told South African Football Journalist Association.

“I remember saying to ‘Mshishi’ that; ‘you have to be so good that it’s difficult to ignore you’. And that’s exactly what he did. Zwane was so good that even though the coach at the time didn’t want him for reasons that we have to respect, and also to the credit of Hugo Broos, he mentioned that it was one of the things he got wrong.

“That means if he can rescind his opinion on Themba Zwane, I’m sure if Lorch continues this way he will get a call up.”

Bafana face Zambia in a friendly international this Saturday in Gqeberha.
