Tactical! Al Masry coach Nabil Kouki credits his tactical acumen as the reason behind their victory over Kaizer Chiefs
Nabil Kouki has lauded his analysis of Kaizer Chiefs’ style of play and tactics as the perfect guider after they beat Amakhosi 2-1.
The Al Masry coach said his team studied the Betway Premiership side thoroughly ahead of the Caf Confederation Cup match last night.
"I’m happy with the win and securing the three points in the opening match," the Tunisian said according to Kolel Koora.
"We studied Kaizer Chiefs very well and managed to exploit their weaknesses successfully.
"I divided the match into several phases, and our plan succeeded in achieving the win. Al-Masry relies on collective play, which allowed us to compensate for the absences with great efficiency.
"We adjusted our players’ positioning in the second half, which contributed to pressing the opponent and achieving the victory. We’ll immediately start preparing the players for the Zesco match, using the recovery programme as a key tool to maintain their readiness.
"We aim to collect maximum points in our home matches during the group stage, to ensure we remain in the race for top spot and qualify for the next round.”
Bonheur Mugisha scored from the penalty spot in the first half as Dillon Solomons restored parity for Chiefs but Mohamed Hashem scored the winning goal for the home side at Suez Stadium.
