Szczęsny or Peña? Barcelona's goalkeeper decision for Betis clash revealed
Barcelona faces Real Betis in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 today, and the team’s starting goalkeeper has been confirmed.
Details: According to Diario Sport, Barcelona academy graduate Iñaki Peña will start in goal, continuing as the first-choice keeper following Marc-André ter Stegen's injury.
In Barcelona’s last three matches, Wojciech Szczęsny was the starting goalkeeper. The experienced Polish international debuted in the Copa del Rey Round of 32 match against Barbastro and subsequently played in the Spanish Super Cup matches against Athletic Bilbao (2-0) and Real Madrid (5-2).
It’s worth noting that Szczęsny received a red card in the second half of the match against Real Madrid, but his suspension applies only to Spanish Super Cup games.
Reminder: Barcelona’s key central defender Iñigo Martínez is set to miss at least a month due to injury.
