World number one, Iga Swiatek, revealed the challenges she faced in maintaining her high-level performance during the mid-season.

"Sabalenka had an outstanding season and rightfully became the top-ranked player. I chose to focus on other aspects because the pressure associated with the number one spot was a bit overwhelming in the middle of the season. For this reason, I didn't play very freely until the US Open. Then, I realized that I just needed to change my mindset and approach the upcoming tournaments differently. Just be a different player who doesn't focus on these things, although I always try to do so, but it doesn't always work out," said Swiatek.

It's worth noting that Swiatek briefly dropped to the second spot for two months after the US Open, but she regained her top status at the WTA Finals by defeating Aryna Sabalenka in a head-to-head showdown.

Earlier, Swiatek had criticized the WTA calendar for the year 2024.
