World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has become the first finalist of Roland Garros 2024.
In today’s semifinal match, the Polish tennis player defeated the world No. 3 American, Coco Gauff, in straight sets (6-2, 6-4).
This victory marks her 20th consecutive win at the clay-court Grand Slam.
With today’s success, Iga has risen to fourth place in the ranking for the longest winning streak at Roland Garros in the Open Era.
The absolute record is held by Chris Evert, who secured 29 victories from 1974 to 1981.
Swiatek is the reigning champion of Roland Garros. In the final, the Pole will face Jasmine Paolini, who is ranked 15th in the world.
