Surprisingly. Liverpool suffered a heavy defeat against Atalanta, with Scamacca scoring a brace
Liverpool hosted Atalanta at Anfield in the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinals.
Both teams started the match energetically, creating several dangerous moments. The first goal came towards the end of the first half, but unfortunately for the home fans, it was scored by the visitors. Gianluca Scamacca put Atalanta ahead.
By the hour mark, things went from bad to worse for Jurgen Klopp's team as Scamacca completed his brace, extending Atalanta's lead to two goals.
In the 80th minute, Mohamed Salah found the back of the net for Liverpool, but his goal was disallowed due to an offside position. Shortly after, Atalanta scored again through Mario Pasalic, sealing a commanding victory.
The second leg will take place in Bergamo in a week's time, on April 18.
