Infantino has once again found himself at the heart of a major political storm.
Details: According to Touchline, European lawmakers are calling for an investigation into FIFA president Gianni Infantino over his alleged contacts with Donald Trump during the controversy surrounding Folarin Balogun's suspension.
It is reported that more than 30 members of the European Parliament have backed a letter urging FIFA’s Ethics Committee to examine whether Infantino violated rules of political neutrality and the organization’s governance principles.
The lawmakers believe this episode has damaged trust in FIFA's integrity and warrants an official ethical review.
Meanwhile, Infantino himself insists that there was no political interference in the disciplinary process.
