Sudan's local team won another match against Ethiopia, scoring 2-1 in the second game of the final round of qualifiers for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The tournament will be held in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The game happened on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.

Sudan had already won the first game 2-0, so their total score is now 4-1, showing they are clearly the stronger team in this matchup.

How Qualification Works?

Sudan hasn't yet formally guaranteed a place in the competition, though. They must wait to see how the other qualifying matches turn out. Only one team will qualify based on the best performance against South Sudan, Rwanda, and Burundi.

South Sudan beat Rwanda 3-2 in their first game and will play the second game on December 28. Meanwhile, Burundi will play Uganda in their first game on December 26, with the second game set for December 29.

Sudan currently holds the advantage, having recorded the best result (4-1) compared to the other teams. Any of the competing teams would need to win by more than a three-goal margin to surpass Sudan and claim the qualification spot.

Sudan had previously reached this level after defeating Tanzania on penalties (6-5) following a 1-1 draw in the semi-final round's aggregate score.
