Legendary Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has shared a hilarious story about his first team meeting with the Chennai Super Kings and the unique sense of humor of then-captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Details: Watson recalled how Dhoni laid out the team’s main objectives for the season, making a special joke about the fiery Australian character of his new star player.
"When I first joined CSK, at our very first meeting Dhoni told us all that we had to win both the IPL and the Fair Play award. MS then said, 'I know it will be tough for us to win the Fair Play award because there’s one Australian in the team—our Watto.' But the funniest part was that later in the season, he himself ran out onto the field to confront the umpires," the Aussie said.
The irony of the situation, which Watson laughs about, lies in the famous incident when the usually cool and composed Dhoni lost his temper and stormed onto the pitch straight from the dugout to protest a no-ball decision.
