Reports indicate that as soon as the Stuttgart fans arrived at the stadium, a state of emergency was declared in the city. When the fans exited their bus, they were met by a crowd of police officers armed with batons and shields. Several supporters sustained serious injuries, and city authorities stated that the police had the full right to use force.
Following this incident, the Stuttgart fans decided to immediately leave the Netherlands, abandoning their team just hours before kickoff.
