Scandal rocks Australian football!

Details: In the summer of 2025, 26-year-old defender Josh Cavallo left Adelaide United for Peterborough Sports, but only now has he revealed the real reason behind his departure from Adelaide.

According to Cavallo, he was forced to leave the team because the management and coaching staff refused to let him play due to his open admission that he is gay. Cavallo claims he repeatedly faced bullying and ridicule from teammates, and even witnessed them mocking photos of him with his partner.

Cavallo made football history in 2021 by coming out as gay, becoming the first openly gay footballer at the time.

Adelaide United’s management strongly denies these allegations, stating that the club has always stood for equality and fairness, and that Cavallo’s lack of playing time was due to insufficient preparation.

This season, Josh Cavallo has played 4 matches for Peterborough Sports but has yet to register a goal or assist.

Reminder: First openly gay footballer Josh Cavallo admits he has no regrets about coming out despite constant threats
