Today, the Malawi national team is set to play an away match against Burkina Faso in the 2nd round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. However, the team encountered a rather unfortunate situation.
Details: According to Mansour Lum, Malawi's head coach Patrick Mabedi went shopping by taxi in the capital of Burkina Faso, Bamako. Upon leaving the taxi, he accidentally left a bag containing all the players' passports inside the car.
Fortunately for Malawi, the taxi driver turned out to be an honest and upstanding person. He returned to the team's hotel and handed back the lost bag.
Reminder: Malawi has reached the final stage of the Africa Cup of Nations three times in its history, with their best achievement being a Round of 16 appearance at AFCON 2021.
In the 1st round of the qualifiers, Malawi lost to Burundi 2-3.
