Steve Mvoué Joins IK Start in Norway to Revive His Career in Second Division
Steve Mvoué, the 23-year-old midfielder who was once named the best player at the 2019 U17 Africa Cup of Nations, has signed a contract with Norwegian second-division club IK Start until 2026.
Mvoué’s career, which began with high expectations after his standout performance in Tanzania, has faced many setbacks. He played just four games throughout his miserable tenure at Toulouse, despite having a strong start that included a call-up to Cameroon's senior national squad.
Later, he and Portimonense relocated to Belgium and Portugal, but he had little success there. His most recent attempt to make a return with Paris 13 Atletico in the French third tier likewise failed.
But his transfer to IK Start is a new beginning, giving him the chance to get the stability and regular playing time he hasn't had in previous years.
Mvoué, who is renowned for his technical prowess and vision, may prove to be a valuable addition to IK Start, who are hoping to advance to the first division.
Even though his path hasn't been easy, Mvoué is optimistic that his stay in Norway would boost his self-esteem and enable him to maybe rejoin Cameroon on the global stage. At 23, he still has lots of time to establish himself, and this new chapter represents a significant turning point in his career.
