Steve Barker is expecting a tough match in Tanzania against Singida Black Stars in the Caf Confederation Cup match today

Steve Barker expects a challenging encounter this afternoon when his Stellenbosch FC side face Singida Black Stars.

Barker’s men travel to the East African country high in confidence having won their first group stage match 1-0, a week ago today, against Congo-Brazzaville’s AS Otoho.

Ashley Cupido scored in the last minute to hand Barker’s side the maximum points.

“But, we are aware that all teams that have reached the group stage are not easy to play against, especially away from home, so we anticipate a challenging match. We’ve prepared well and we’re ready to showcase our abilities as a team,” Barker told his club website.

The Tanzanians lost 2-0 to Algeria’s CR Belouizdad last Saturday in their opening match and this is something you would think Barker should capitalise on but the coach said every team at this stage is here on merit.

“Any team that gets to the group stage deserves to be there because they would have had to have done well in their league and in the qualifying stages,” he said.

The game takes at place at Amaan Stadium at 6pm.
