Stellenbosch FC striker Wonderboy Makhubu thrilled at scoring his first goal for Stellies as and promises more goals to come in the top eight push
Wonderboy Makhubu netted his first goal for Stellenbosch FC in the 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy last night in a Betway Premiership match.
The former Sekhukhune United and Magesi FC marksman was pleased with his contribution to Gavin Hunt’s men as they push for a top eight finish.
“From the first minute, and in fact in every game, I have the belief that I am going to score. I approach every single move, from when it starts at the back with the build-up play, with the mindset that it’s going to end with me putting the ball in the net,” Makhubu said after the game at Danie Craven Stadium.
“So, when it went out wide, I instinctively moved to the box expecting the cross. Devin saw me, and when it came, I did a short prayer to say, ‘Eish, can I please score this one!’ because I had played a few games for the Club without scoring.
“Of course, bit by bit, that puts a person under more pressure, but I am a striker and it’s my job to score goals, so I was very happy to open my account. That has boosted my confidence a lot, so hopefully, going forward, even more goals will come.”
This draw sees Stellenbosch remaining on 10th spot in the PSL standings.
