Yesterday, the Scottish national team became the second team, after Poland, to be officially eliminated from Euro 2024. In a decisive match, Steve Clarke's squad lost to Hungary (0-1), conceding a goal in the ninth minute of stoppage time.

This defeat extended Scotland's disastrous run at major international tournaments.

Since 1954, the "Tartan Army" has participated in 8 World Cups and 4 European Championships. However, they have never managed to advance to the knockout stages. Twelve attempts and twelve group stage exits.

  • World Cups: 1954, 1958, 1974, 1978, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1998

Their last victory at a major tournament was back in 1996, when they defeated Switzerland 1-0.

In the opening match of Euro 2024, Scotland lost 1-5 to Germany and later managed to draw 1-1 with Switzerland.
