In the Matchday 7 fixture of the UEFA Champions League, PSG travelled away to Sporting and suffered a 1–2 defeat, a result that brought an end to a lengthy run for the Parisians.
Details: According to Opta, PSG lost to a team outside Europe’s top five leagues for the first time since 2013. Prior to this, they had gone 32 matches without such a defeat. The last time the Parisians lost in similar circumstances was against Benfica, also by a 1–2 scoreline.
Reminder: Mbappe scored a brace early in the match, finding the net in the fifth and 26th minutes of the first half, thereby matching the tally of Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
