Sport outside politics? Bangladesh urgently lifts ban on IPL 2026 broadcast
The dramatic situation surrounding the broadcast of the Indian Premier League in Bangladesh has taken an unexpected turn.
Details: According to lndian Sports Netwrk, just hours before the start of the tournament, which kicks off today, March 28, with a clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad, the country's new government has officially lifted the ban on broadcasting the matches.
Recall that the original ban was imposed by the interim government back in January 2026. Bangladesh's Ministry of Information had enforced an indefinite ban on airing the league, but now the situation has been resolved.
Despite the government lifting the ban, the situation remains complicated as no local TV channels have officially applied to purchase the rights at the last minute.
Reminder: Nuwana Tushara risks missing the entire IPL 2026 season.
