A fiery atmosphere surrounded the stadium and its environs before the match. Georgian fans orchestrated a massive procession through the streets of Dortmund, using pyrotechnics to mark the historic occasion. Inside the stadium, tensions flared as Georgian supporters clashed with Turkish fans, leading to brawls where chairs and other objects were thrown.

The excitement continued on the pitch. Both teams started the match energetically, frequently threatening each other's goals. It could be said that there was practically no midfield play during the first half.

Turkey held the territorial advantage, but Georgia employed a high press and posed a threat with dangerous counterattacks.

In the 25th minute, Turkey took the lead. Muldur unleashed a powerful strike that found the back of Mamardashvili's net.

Barely had Georgia recovered when they conceded again. Turkey launched a counterattack, finished by Yildiz with a precise shot. However, their joy was short-lived as the goal was disallowed for offside.

Regaining composure, Georgia equalized - Mikautadze scoring the team's first-ever goal in the European Championships. The teams went into the break with the score level.

At the start of the second half, Turkey seized the initiative and controlled possession. Georgia focused entirely on counterattacks.

In the 65th minute, Güler scored a stunning goal to put Turkey back in the lead. Georgia was unable to equalize a second time.

In extra time, Georgia squandered two excellent opportunities. In the final minute of the match, Mamardashvili joined the attack for a corner, but Turkey launched a counterattack and Akturkoglu slotted the ball into the empty net. The result was a victory for Vincenzo Montella's team in this thrilling match.
