South African-born coach Rulani Mokwena secures maiden silverware on the continent with MC Alger's 1-0 win over rivals US Alger in Algeria's Super Cup
Rulani Mokwena won his maiden silverware as a coach abroad with his MC Alger side in Algeria.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns gaffer won the Algerian Super Cup 1-0 with his side beating fierce rivals US Alger.
This trophy is contested by Algeria’s Ligue 1 winners and Cup winners of that country.
MC Alger are the current Ligue 1 holders while US Alger won last year’s domestic cup competition.
Mokwena is enjoying a great run of positive results in North Africa as his side are also the table toppers with a gap of 12 points between them and second placed CR Belouizdad.
Under the South African-born tactician, MC Alger have only lost twice in 24 matches and such a record is one of the history books.
Before joining MC Alger, Mokwena was at Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca where he did not enjoy positive results like he is now in neighbouring Algeria.
