The 24th COSAFA Cup is underway in South Africa, and the tournament is heading into its decisive phase. The participants for the medal matches have now been determined.

Details: In the semifinals, the South African national team faced little resistance from the Comoros Islands squad, securing a comfortable 2-0 lead by the 14th minute. The opposition managed to pull one goal back before halftime.

However, in the second half, Vela Khumalo’s side restored their two-goal cushion. In the 79th minute, the Comoros Islands were reduced to ten men after Naimuddin Hassan, who had come on after the break, received his second yellow card.

As a result, it’s South Africa who will join the defending champions, Angola, in the final. The Comoros Islands will contest the third-place playoff against Madagascar. Both matches are scheduled for June 15 in Bloemfontein.

Reminder: Both Angola and South Africa have five COSAFA Cup titles apiece. A win for either side would see them move into joint-second on the all-time list alongside Zimbabwe. Zambia remains the most successful nation in COSAFA Cup history, with seven titles to their name.
