The Angola national team has claimed the COSAFA Cup for the fifth time in its history. In the final, the Angolans overcame the tournament hosts, South Africa.
The fate of the showdown was decided by Vojvodina's Serbian striker Depu, who netted twice against the hosts, while Milson added another goal. South Africa matched Angola for much of the contest but failed to capitalize on their chances.
Remarkably, Angola managed to defend their title, lifting the trophy for the fifth time. Last year, they demolished Namibia 5-0 in the final.
It's worth noting that Depu finished as the tournament's top scorer, finding the net eight times in five matches. The 25-year-old forward scored against Namibia, bagged a hat-trick versus Lesotho, and struck braces in matches against Madagascar and South Africa.
Additionally, this was South Africa's first appearance in a home final since 2021. Four years ago, they edged out Senegal in a penalty shootout to claim the title.
