George Mills, son of former England and Leeds United footballer Danny Mills, has made a name for himself in sports—though not in football. Instead, he has found success in athletics and has now set a new record in the sport, reports The Sun.

Mills broke the British Indoor Athletics Championship record in the 3000 meters, clocking 7:40.16 minutes—a full nine seconds faster than the previous best. With this achievement, Mills Jr. was crowned British champion.

During the 2024 Paris Olympics, George was involved in a controversial incident in the 5000m race, where he was among the athletes who fell on the home stretch. After the race, he claimed in an interview that he had been knocked down.

His father, Danny Mills, played in the Premier League for Leeds United and Manchester City and earned 19 caps for England, including five appearances at the 2002 World Cup.

Athletic talent runs in the family—George’s younger brother, Stanley Mills, 21, has pursued football and currently plays for Oxford United in the Championship.
