“Someone simply has asthma.” Klopp wittily responds to German fans’ jeers

The German coach retains his trademark sense of humor even after a painful defeat.

Details: Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp reacted ironically to the fans’ jeers following the Mannschaft’s sensational 0-1 home defeat to Greece in the second round of the Nations League.

The German coach urged everyone not to rush into tragedy and said he was ready to personally take all the criticism:

“There were a few jeers—maybe someone simply exhaled loudly, or perhaps someone has asthma. It’s a normal thing, although there was no real need for it. Let’s do this: I’ll stand in the middle of the pitch myself, and let the stands jeer me personally. It’s absolutely no problem for me. The lads looked dejected after the game, although there’s no reason to beat ourselves up. We did everything we could on the pitch. The team certainly doesn’t need to spend hours offering endless apologies,” Klopp said.

It is worth noting that the defeat to Greece was Jürgen Klopp’s first at the helm of Germany: in the opening round of the Nations League, the Germans drew 1-1 with the Netherlands.
