Snoop Dogg will carry Olympic flame through the streets of Paris before opening ceremony of Olympics
Famous American rapper Snoop Dogg will be among the torchbearers carrying the Olympic flame on the last leg before the opening ceremony of the Games in Paris on Friday. The announcement was made by the city's mayor Mathieu Hanotin.
Snoop Dogg, 52, will carry the torch through the streets of Saint-Denis, the northern Paris suburb where the Stade de France Olympic stadium is located.
Other torchbearers in Saint-Denis on Friday will be French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar.
The identity of the man who will light the Olympic flame on the night of the opening ceremony is being kept secret, with fewer than a dozen people aware of it.
The opening ceremony of the 33rd Olympic Games will take place in Paris on July 26 with 205 delegations of athletes parading on more than 80 boats along the Seine.
The Olympics itself will be held from July 26 to August 11. The competition will feature 329 sets of awards in 32 sports.
Earlier, Pope Francis called to stop all military conflicts for the duration of the Olympic Games in Paris.
