Siyabonga Ngezana still in Bafana Bafana fold. The defender misses out against Zambia because Hugo Broos is looking for defensive options

Siyabonga Ngezana missed out on a Bafana Bafana call-up against Zambia because Hugo Broos is expanding his pool of players in the defensive position.

Ngezana has been a regular under Broos but he was left out of the team that won against Zambia in Gqeberha last Saturday.

The coach further explained that he is on a missing to widen his playing personnel and that meant he needed to drop some regulars in order to give his new options and opportunity.

“There are still players who were not here, like, for example, Ngezana,” Broos said after the 3-1 in Gqeberha last Saturday.

“I didn’t call him up because I wanted to give chances to other players and to see if we can use them in the future for AFCON.

“It was a good week again, a good mentality, a good work attitude in training. Those guys want to win every game, even when we didn’t play our best game, we won.

“We will try to do what we did the last time, maybe even better if it’s possible. But again, it is AFCON, and it is not easy. It’s so intense, every team wants to show how good they are, but I’m confident South Africa will be ready.”
